Tech will look to keep it rolling against a quality UTA squad this weekend. Coach Burroughs will roll out the same 3 weekend starters in Kent Hasler, Casey Sutton, & Cameron Linck. Hasler threw very well last weekend, while Sutton and Linck competed their tails off with not having their best stuff. UTA will roll out right handers Kadon Simmons and Trae Patterson on Fri & Sat, while left hander Jakob Hernandez will get the start Sunday.

Simmons returns as one of the top arms in the Sun Belt after going 9-4 a year ago. UTA is replacing quite a few guys from last years 30-28 squad. Brady Cox will be behind the plate for the Mavericks and should be one of their better hitters after hitting .365 a year ago. UTA is not going to be the most talented team in the world, but they will do the little things right and really compete, that is what makes them good. UTA hosted TCU in the midweek this week, the game was tied into the 8th inning before they fell 7-2 to the Horned Frogs. That TCU team is ranked #1 in America. UTA will be a nice tough road test for the Dogs.

Early on Tech has been led at the plate by Brent Diaz and Cody Daigle. Certainly a bright sign to see Diaz breaking out as a JR, lets hope he can keep this going throughout the season. He is beginning to show a lot more patience at the plate and is becoming a more well rounded hitter to go with his already outstanding defense. Daigle had a monster finish to 2016 and is picking up right where he left off. Should be a fun series in Arlington, before Tech returns home next week to host Arkansas and Wichita State.
