FOOTBALL Game Week Practice Report — WKU

Beautiful night inside Joe Aillet Stadium tonight.

Looks like much of the same again this week at QB. It was ugly. I assume Hank can’t take a hit. Only thing I can come up with.

Zimos sliding inside some. Davis will play too, obviously.

Crosby won’t play. I’d be surprised if Thornton did, but he’s gonna try. Willis out again.

Will play 3 true CBs a lot. Roberts slide inside. Woods looks like he’ll be back probably. Paul limited.

Questions?

FOOTBALL Brevin Randle Suspended Indefinitely

Per Dr. Wood:

“Coach Cumbie and I met with Brevin Randle today and informed him that he has been suspended indefinitely as a result of the incident during last night’s game versus UTEP. In speaking with Brevin, he acknowledges that his action was wrong and understands the consequence of that action. Our University, athletic department, and football program believe in culture, class, and competitive excellence and in no way was that displayed in that moment.”

Sonny Cumbie will release a statement later today.

FOOTBALL Statement from Brevin Randle

Official statement from Brevin Randle

“I want to apologize and take full accountability for my action towards Steven Hubbard and the UTEP football program. I am aware that my action was unacceptable, and does not align with what Louisiana Tech or I stand for. Although one play does not define me as a person or a player, I take this as a lesson to learn from and hope others can learn from me because I will never condone behavior of this matter. I hope this finds your heart well as I plan to use my time away from the game I love to reflect on how I have impacted Steven, my university, team and family.”

FOOTBALL 2023 Mid-Season Report Card — 3-3 (2-0)

What ya got?

Wins: FIU, NSU, UTEP

Losses: SMU, North Texas, Nebraska

Offense | The offense with Hank or Jack has looked rough. WRs hurt. RBs hurt. OL has been better last few weeks. No rhythm all year. PPG & yards per game are down from last year against a weaker schedule. — D

Defense | Allowing 12 less points and 90 less yards per game. Pass defense has been really good. Run defense seems to get more TFL, but they are still below average. Scheme issues all over the place each week. Has kept a struggling offense in every game outside of North Texas. — C+

Special Teams | Barnes has been great at kicker. Buck has been great at kickoffs. Punting is massively improved w/ Oschendorf. No blocked kicks allowed. No big returns allowed. Smoke ran a punt back. Negatives were the 12 men on field against SMU and fake FG allowed against Nebraska. Sharp has been really solid this year. — B+

Overall | I’m feeling generous after a win, but I’m still not sold we are making much progress. Just feels sloppy too often. — C-
