Alabama will come to Ruston with a 31-24 overall record, they went 12-17 in the SEC.

They closed out the regular season lose 9 of their last 12 games.

Brad Bohannon is in his 4th season as the HC in Tuscaloosa where is 104-80.

Prior to Alabama, Bohannon was an assistant coach at Wake Forest (01-02), Kentucky (04-15), and Auburn (16-17).

Top Draft Prospects:

2B Peyton Wilson -- Brother of former Tide QB John Parker Wilson and Tide 2B Ross Wilson
RHP Tyler Ras
LHP Connor Preilipp -- out for season, pitched 7 innings
3B Zane Denton
OF Owen Diodati
LHP Antoine Jean -- out for season, pitched 26 innings

Top Freshmen:

LHP Grayson Hitt -- 2-3, 10.80 ERA in 18.1 IP
INF Caden Rose -- .192, 4 HR, 18 RBI

Top Pitchers:

Obviously it's a little surprising that Alabama is even in a regional with the injuries to Preilipp and Jean. Preilipp is a legit 1st round prospect.

RHP Tyler Ras -- 7-4, 5.36 ERA, stepped into the Friday night role after Preilipp when down week one, settles in at 92-93, has a mid 80s cutter, strike thrower, doesn't strike out a bunch of guys, competes his tail off
RHP Dillon Smith -- 1-8, 4.13 ERA, don't let the numbers fool you, he's really burst onto the scene as a junior, 106 K in 89.1 IP, will be up to 96 at times

Ras and Smith have combined to allow 30 HRs.

RHP Chase Lee -- 7-0, 1.21 ERA in 21 appearances out of the bullpen, sidearm guy, will be 90-92, wipeout slider, great command, true walk-on that didn't even make the team in his first year
RHP William Lee -- 2-1, 2.41 ERA in 22 appearances (4 starts)
RHP Jacob McNairy -- 1-0, 4.37 ERA in 14 appearances (2 starts)
RHP Landon Green -- 3-2, 4.55 ERA in 18 appearances (1 start)
RHP Jake Eddington -- 1-0, 7.29 ERA in 14 appearances (1 start), loose arm that will touch 94, still learning to pitch
RHP Hunter Ruth -- 0-0, 5.87 ERA in 9 appearances, will be 87-89, good feel for slider and change-up

Top Hitters:

3B Zane Denton -- .310, 9 HR, 38 RBI, switch hitter, really good bat to ball skills, when he's going well look out
2B Peyton Wilson -- .301, 9 HR, 31 RBI, 10 SB, small, switch-hitter, he's the catalyst in this lineup
C Sam Praytor -- .283, 13 HR, 46 RBI, has worked his way back from Tommy John surgery, has started all 55 games, very good defensively behind the plate
RF William Hamitor -- .272, 3 HR, 31 RBI, 2-hole hitter, can move the ball around the field
1B Drew Williamson -- .263, 4 HR, 21 RBI, has played 1B, big 6'4 kid, hasn't broke out in 2021 as they expected in the preseason
DH Owen Diodati -- .229, 11 HR, 40 RBI, tons of power from the left side, Ks a ton

Good, not great offensive club. Have some pop, don't steal a ton of bases.

Bohannon had a massive rebuilding job when he took over for Greg Goff after the 2017 season. They were 16-1 in 2020 before the shutdown. Without the injuries to the top two arms, they were a no doubt regional team.

They do have a bunch of young guys that haven't played in a regional environment, will be interesting to see how they react.
