RUSTON, La. (Aug. 13, 2015) – Louisiana Tech officials announced Thursday that a 2019 non-conference football game at Texas has been scheduled.
The meeting, set for Aug. 31, 2019 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas (capacity: 100,119), will mark the first time Louisiana Tech and Texas have faced each other on the gridiron.
Only twice before has Louisiana Tech played in front of crowds larger than 100,000. The Bulldogs played in front of 104,257 at No. 8 Tennessee on Sept. 25, 2004 and played in front of 103,987 at No. 15 Penn State on Sept. 21, 2002.
Louisiana Tech is currently coached by Skip Holtz while Charlie Strong is the current Texas coach. The two served on the same staff at South Carolina from 1999-2002 when Lou Holtz was head coach of the Gamecocks. Strong served as defensive coordinator for South Carolina while Skip was the offensive coordinator.
