For all of you guys who aren't married that just don't have the experience to know what you need to do on this day...and for all you married people, please feel free to add to the collective wisdom.
1) It doesn't matter if she tells you she doesn't want flowers or chocolate, BUY FLOWERS AND CHOCOLATE. She's allergic to chocolate AND flowers, you say? BUY FLOWERS AND CHOCOLATE...that stuff is going to be all around her in her office/dorm room/whatever anyway...blame her sneezing on them. It's not about wanting those things...it's about the other ladies she works with or goes to school with getting those things and you looking like you're asleep on the job. Don't be that guy.
2) Don't buy her underwear...she doesn't want that crap because it's for you. Don't misunderstand, you can buy them in addition to flowers and chocolate, but remember, it's a gift for you and not for her.
3) This has nothing to do with Valentine's day...but don't propose at a sporting event. Once again, she doesn't want that crap. She does NOT find it special to be with 40,000 strangers watching a bunch of guys sweating for a team that she likely wouldn't be watching if you hadn't bought tickets.
Know what things are for you and what things are for her, and have the wisdom to see the difference.
