FOOTBALL Tech Tuesday on 1130 the Tiger

On the Tim Fletcher show during college football season, they have a weekly conversation with "area" coaches (Cumbie, Bowden, and whoever is at Northwestern State).

This season, the Cumbie interview is going to be on Tuesdays at 6:30am. I feel like this is WAY earlier than it's been in the past. Probably too early for me to catch. Just thought I'd give a heads up to those of you in the area who were wondering if the segment was taking place this year.

FOOTBALL SMU Transfer Additions for 2023

SMU added a decent number of transfer players this off-season, so I wanted to highlight those guys ahead of Saturday:

DT Kori Roberson (Oklahoma)

WR Jordan Hudson (TCU) -- 14 catches for 174 yards, 3 TDs in 2022

OT Caleb Johnson (Notre Dame)

CB Kyron Chambers (TCU)

TE Micah Hilts (Texas State) -- 1 catch for 12 yards in 2022

CB Keyshon Mills (Colorado)

DE Cam Robertson (North Texas) -- 15 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 sack in 2022

LB Kobe Wilson (Temple) -- 64 tackles, 1.5 sacks in 2022

OL Jakai Clark (Miami) -- 39 career starts at Miami

QB Alex Padilla (Iowa)

WR Romello Brinson (Miami) -- 7 catches for 99 yards in 2022

OL Logan Parr (Texas)

CB Jaylen Davis-Robinson (LSU)

OT PJ Williams (Texas A&M)

CB Chris Megginson (Liberty) -- 33 tackles, 2 TFL, 6 PD in 2022

RB LJ Johnson (Texas A&M) -- 10 carries for 39 yards & 2 TDs in 2022

LB Ahmad Walker (Liberty) -- 63 tackles, 11 TFL, and 4 sacks in 2022

CB CJ Sanders (Fresno State) -- 32 tackles, 1 TFL, & 6 PD in 2022

OT Hyrin White (Mizzou) -- hurt in 2022, started 11 games at RT for Missouri in 2021

WR Key'Shawn Smith (Miami) -- 13 catches, 199 yards, 2 TDs in 2022

DL Jordan Miller (Miami) -- 18 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 sack

DE Elijah Roberts (Miami)

RB Jaylan Knighton (Miami) -- 423 yards, TD in 2022

CB Jonathan McGill (Stanford) -- 51 tackles, 5.5 TFL, and 1 sack in 2022

CB Charles Woods (West Virginia) -- 7 tackles in 2022

That's 25 players that the Mustangs have added to their 2023 team. SMU has become quite the transfer destination in recent years, which is why a lot of folks believe in the talent level of the club Rhett Lashlee has put together.

FOOTBALL Touchdown Run(Defense)

Here is what happened on the touchdown run in the 1st QTR.

The main Culprits are #9, #0, #20, #2

Let's start with #20, the wing washed him 3 gaps down. Playing way too high and just got completely blown across 3 gaps.

#9 should've been inside leverage of the pulling backside wig because he has a strong safety sitting outside so his fit should've been inside. You will see he was hesitant and collided head up and very high and didn't secure his gap. He should fit inside and #0 fit outside for no gain.

#0 was the unblocked force player. Because #9 didn't do his job correctly, it made #0 job tougher! He was unblocked and should've made the tackle.

#2 unblocked and just took bad angle and fell on the ground..

****The Line has to play with better leverage as the OLine's we will see in the near future are much better than FIU.

***Also the depth of the LB's on 3rd and 3 is also a concern.

FOOTBALL PFF Player Grades | LA Tech vs FIU

Takeaways:

- I hate Thornton got hurt. He’s underrated at RB. Eye test supported grades for Moody & Willis, but that’s what happens when you’re at your 4th & 5th RBs
- Hank was very good
- Rivera is an asset. Good blocker, looked good on his one catch.
- Gilbert solid in his first start at RG
- We bagged on Power for bringing SFA guys in, but Heard, Williams, and Randle are pretty good, fam.
- Singleton is a senior, but he lacks speed at times and it shows

FOOTBALL Snap Count Totals | LA Tech vs FIU

Takeaways:

- Bruno goes 84 snaps after not having practiced in 14 days. Stud.
- Rossell only reserve OL to play snaps
- Locke gets 8 snaps in a blocking role at TE
- Hall, Williams, and Nason are only 3 that played at DT. Have to wonder if they would’ve seen more than 46 snaps what that would’ve looked like?
- After the long run early, Hugh Davis sat for Boateng
- Willis, Fields, Richard, and Finley (special teams) are the 4 true freshmen that played

FOOTBALL BleedTechGREEN - Gambling Thread (Tech -10.5 against Panthers)

New this year: We will have a thread every game week with the lines and line movement for The Bulldogs. Ben and I will also discuss on the BTB Radio as well. Discussions will start around the Tech lines, feel free to discuss other games as well.

Bulldogs are -10.5 point favorites at home this weekend. Reminder, Bulldogs lost in double overtime at FIU last year, 42-34. Home field advantage is typically a 3 point adjustment. Safe to say the Hank Factor is real.

Let's hear your thoughts.
